Two things that beat a system before any part actually fails
An outdoor condenser needs a clear path to dump the heat it's pulling out of your house, and a unit boxed in tight by a fence, a hedge or a stack of patio furniture starts recirculating its own hot exhaust air. The unit isn't broken. It's just breathing its own waste heat, and head pressure climbs until the system trips out or simply can't hold the temperature you set.
